FemHealth: Everything you need to know about it and what you can do for yourself

FemHealth: Alles was du darüber wissen musst und was du für dich tun kannst

Perhaps you've experienced this too: You've seen countless different doctors for health problems, but somehow never felt truly understood or taken seriously. This means that you are (unfortunately) not the only woman who has to suffer because everything related to the topic of "femhealth" isn't yet fully embraced. We want to dedicate ourselves to this topic today because it's very important to us to raise awareness about it, and we've had similar experiences in the past .

What does FemHealth mean?

FemHealth can be translated as women's health and describes the health (physiological and psychological) characteristics that can occur in women.

Why is FemHealth relevant and what does “Gender Health Gap” mean?

Whether you are born male or female has a fundamental impact on your overall health and, consequently, on your healthcare. It has not been recognized for a long time that the female body not only looks different from the male body, but also functions differently. Some health problems that affect both men and women can affect women differently and display different symptoms . In the past, medical studies have mostly only included male participants, thus excluding female participants. This has serious consequences for women's health because it leads to illnesses going undetected or being misdiagnosed. This phenomenon is known as the "gender health gap" and is even more evident in women-specific conditions: endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and many others have been insufficiently researched, and their causes and treatment options are unknown. The lack of measures to close the "gender health gap" is a sign of the taboo surrounding the female body and makes it clear that women's health must be at the top of the gender equality agenda.

What you can do for your own FemHealth

Find a doctor you trust

Even if you've had bad experiences with doctors and have changed doctors several times, it's still important to consult someone with a medical background when you have health problems. Have you ever talked to your friends or colleagues about this? Perhaps they can recommend a doctor who was able to help them and with whom they feel comfortable.

Do you have intestinal problems that just won't go away? Contact a intestinal center in your city. We found that our symptoms were taken more seriously there, as the doctors there deal with these issues intensively and on a daily basis.

Read and inform

In addition, it's also important that you engage with your body, inform yourself, and read up on it. This includes, for example, professional articles, reputable online magazines, (government) health organizations, etc.

Exchange ideas

Period cramps and the like may not be the most pleasant topics to start a conversation about at a shared apartment party, but exchanging ideas with other women is simply beneficial. Firstly, you won't feel so alone anymore, and secondly, you'll be actively contributing to counteracting the taboo surrounding the female body (and thus, women's health).

In addition, your conversation partners can give you valuable tips and, last but not least, perhaps, as mentioned above, lead you to your trusted doctor.

Find companies that focus on FemHealth

Fortunately, significant progress is being made in building a women's health infrastructure in the emerging femhealth and femtech industries. Many women-led companies are helping to close the care gap by prioritizing the female perspective and user experience. They help women with everything from simple medical tasks like period tracking to innovations like natural contraception through temperature sensing. In short, companies in the femhealth and femtech industry help you better understand and support your body with their products.

Célv and FemHealth

célv is one of these companies. We are a women-led wellness brand that specifically addresses topics related to femhealth with products such as "Hormone Happiness & Beauty" and "Gut Goodness."

With a range of natural dietary supplements developed and manufactured in Germany, we approach the topic of well-being and tackle stressful everyday conditions at their root, namely from within.

Hormone Happiness & Beauty is our all-rounder for a more balanced everyday life. It contains, among other ingredients, chasteberry, which can reduce the symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome). Chasteberry is thought to work by lowering levels of the hormone prolactin. This helps to rebalance other hormones, including estrogen and progesterone—thus reducing PMS symptoms.

"Hormone Happiness & Beauty" also contains maca, a plant known to boost libido. Our all-round talent also takes care of your skin: when your hormone balance is in balance, your complexion also improves. This effect is further enhanced by ingredients like amla berry, whose antioxidant properties counteract premature skin aging, and zinc, whose anti-inflammatory properties can even reduce acne. You can find out more here .

Gut Goodness supports and promotes your gut health. It comes in powder form with a delicious raspberry-cranberry flavor and is a combination product of probiotics and prebiotics. Probiotics are important bacterial strains for your gut (here, including bifidobacteria and lactobacilli). Prebiotics are important fiber for these bacterial strains (here, fiber from acacia fiber). You can find out more here .
